Female-Owned Vascular and Vein Practice Expands to Second Location in Suburbs
A mere 2-percent of practicing vascular surgeons in the U.S. are female, and two of them have been in practice together in Arlington Heights since July 2014 at Northwest Vascular and Vein Specialists (NVVS).
The practice recently expanded into a second location in Libertyville, two years to the day from when the first location was opened in Arlington Heights.
Dr. Susanne K. Woloson, M.D., Phd., RPVI of Lake Forest and Dr. Elizabeth Clark, M.D. R.V.T., F.A.C.S. of Oak Park share a common treatment philosophy grounded in educating patients about all of treatments available. Though more physicians are treating veins than ever before, many who are performing surgeries are not board certified. Dr. Clark and Dr. Woloson pride themselves on not only their board certifications, but their 35 years of combined expertise treating vascular and vein issues.
The spectrum of care provided at NVVS varies from the treatment of leg wounds and varicose veins, to cosmetic improvements for issues such as spider veins. The latest advances in laser technology are available, which provide minimally invasive treatment options and shortened recovery times.
"In years past, patients were hospitalized with anesthesia, and surgical incisions with a prolonged recovery for vein and vascular treatments; now advanced laser technology allows us to handle these procedures entirely in our offices in a half hour or less," Dr. Clark said.
Symptoms related to serious varicose veins include burning, itching, numbness and swelling in the legs, in addition to nighttime muscle cramping and restless leg syndrome.
The practice has an exceptional support staff team, which includes a practice manager, and individuals who specialize in obtaining insurance approvals prior to treatment - most are covered under traditional insurance. A highly-skilled Vascular Technologist is also a part of the practice, who is able to quickly and efficiently identify abnormal veins so appropriate treatment plans can be identified.
