Bayern striker Robert Lewandowski signs extension to 2021

MUNICH (AP) - Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has extended his contract with the club through June 2021.

The Bundesliga leaders say the 28-year-old Poland captain signed the agreement on Tuesday.

Lewandowski says "I'm delighted that the discussions came to a positive outcome and that I'm staying attached to Bayern for another few years. Together we still have great aims."

Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge says the club is happy to secure the services of "one of the best central forwards in the world" on a long-term basis.

Lewandowski has scored 58 goals and set up 13 more in 77 Bundesliga games for Bayern since switching from league rival Borussia Dortmund in 2014. He has 19 goals across all competitions already this season.
