Elmhurst garden club scholarship deadline approaching

With a May 1 deadline approaching, the Elmhurst Garden Club is accepting applications for its Mildred Hartney scholarships.

The scholarships will award a total of $15,000 to college students who are residents of Illinois and are currently enrolled in programs related to the club's mission statement that focuses on environmental studies, conservation, biology or botany, landscape design and science education.

Applications are available at elmhurstgardenclub.org.

The club's mission is to encourage the advancement of, and stimulate an interest in, horticulture through education.

Toward that end, the club works to aid in the protection of the environment, to provide an outlet for creative expression, to encourage civic beautification and to provide gift scholarships to further horticulture, conservation, landscape design and science education.

Applicants must be sophomores, juniors or graduate students already enrolled in a program related to the club's mission statement. The scholarships are targeted for tuition and fees.

Applications and information are available at elmhurstgardenclub.org.
