Warrenville Park District celebrates Fall Fest

Warrenville Park District is gearing up for a howling good time with its annual Fall Fest from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, at the Recreation Center, 3S260 Warren Ave.

The fest features a lineup of activities for all ages, including a costume parade at 6 p.m. for little ghosts and goblins around the Recreation Center track overlooking the gym.

A costume contest will be judged right after the parade and winners in different age levels will receive prizes.

Participants can purchase $5 wristbands good for unlimited play in the games and inflatable area. A balloon twister and caricaturist also will be featured.

The Johnny Wagner Band will perform in the entertainment and food tent.

New this year will be the Warrenville Bake-Off competition, where participants can submit cookies, cake or a pie. There's even a category for contestants ages 15 or younger.

All baked entries must fit one of the three categories: single or multi-layer baked cakes; fruit, custard, etc. baked pies; or baked cookies and/or dessert. All entries must be homemade by amateur bakers only. A recipe must be included on a 5-by-7-inch card.

Judging will be 25 percent presentation, 25 percent texture and 50 percent taste.

The deadline for the entry form is 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24.

Entries will be judged by community members and winners will be announced at 8 p.m. in the Rec Center Conference room.

Fall Fest is sponsored by the Warrenville Park District and the city. For details, visit www.warrenvilleparks.org or call (630) 393-7279.
