Sharing Connections celebrates Women of Hope

Sharing Connections, the Chicago area's oldest and largest furniture bank, is celebrating International Women's Day and Mother's Day.

International Women's Day and Mother's Day are two days dedicated to honoring women that make a difference.

Sharing Connections' founder Leeanne McGrath is one woman who made a difference.

Over 30 years ago, McGrath helped a neighbor in need find a crib and baby accessories bringing hope to a struggling mom-to-be.

From there, McGrath began using her Lisle garage to collect baby cribs and baby accessories from people who no longer needed them. Little did she know that one act of hope could lead to over 30 years of neighbors helping neighbors furnish their empty homes and give hope to people transitioning out of homelessness.

"Everyone knows incredible women spreading HOPE … moms, teachers, siblings, co-workers, friends volunteers and so many others," said Chief Operating Officer Ryan Varju. "We are honored to be able to give hope everyday here at Sharing Connections and are excited to be able to recognize 'Women of Hope' for International Women's Day and Mother's Day."

Sharing Connections in Downers Grove will be honoring "Women of Hope" with a video that will be featured on social media from March 8th through May 12th, 2019 thanking the women who make our community, families, and the world a better place.
