One injured in shooting near Mundelein
Lake County sheriff's officials are investigating a shooting that left one person injured near Mundelein, officials said Monday.
Deputies were called to the 26200 block of North Hickory Avenue in unincorporated Lake County at 2:15 a.m. for a report of a man shot.
Authorities found a 22-year-old resident with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was taken to the hospital in serious condition.
An initial investigation shows the man was in his bedroom when he was shot through a window from outside, Sgt. Christopher Covelli said. He added authorities do not believe it was a drive-by shooting.
Authorities think the shooting was gang-related and the victim was the intended target, Covelli said.
Anyone with information about the crime should call detectives at (847) 377-4424 or Lake County Crime Stoppers at (847) 662-2222.
