St. John's Northwestern Military Academy Graduates 55 Seniors
DELAFIELD, Wis., June 5, 2019 - St. John's Northwestern Military Academy (SJNMA) in Delafield, Wisconsin, graduated 54 young men and one young woman in the 135th Corps of Cadets class of 2019 on May 25, 2019. Of the graduates applying, 100% have been accepted to notable colleges and universities, and have collectively received approximately $1.7 million in scholarships. Past SJNMA cadet alumni include Curtis "Buzz" Roosevelt, grandson of Franklin D. Roosevelt, and Martin Torrijos Espino, former president of the Republic of Panama.
"What we do here is truly special. It is nothing less than transforming the lives of boys and girls; guiding their maturity into young adults well prepared to take their places as responsible leaders in a global community," said Mr. Tom Stocks, president of St. John's Northwestern Military Academy.
During commencement weekend, many seniors received special awards and medals.
Cadet Alec Hawksley of Union, Kentucky, was valedictorian, and awarded the Colonel Frank W. Mouso Medal for maintaining a top class ranking as well as consistently demonstrating integrity, devotion and the pursuit of worthwhile goals.
Cadet Anders Rhode of Delafield, Wisconsin, was salutatorian, and awarded the Order of the White Rose for being an exemplary example of high moral principles.
First Captain Alan Cameron of Hartford, Wisconsin, received the Doctor Delafield Trustee's Medal for making extraordinary contributions to the improvement and advancement of the Corps of Cadets.
Cadet Hongbo Jia of Long Grove, Illinois, received the Zelma Garriot Morris Medal for personifying the Academy's goal of transforming boys and girls into young men and women.
Cadet Santiago Canale Cardenas of Sinaloa, Mexico, received the Priscilla Rose Medal for embodying all the traits of an outstanding cadet and symbolizing the spirit of SJNMA.
Cadet Anuar Esteban of Mexico City, Mexico, received the Elizabeth Ross Smythe Medal for demonstrating moral courage exemplified by cleanliness of speech and willingness to stand by his moral principles under all circumstances regardless of possible criticism or ridicule.
Cadet William Tuttle of Mequon, Wisconsin, received the President's Medal in Honor of General Douglas MacArthur for being the best soldier in the Corps of Cadets based on his appearance and demonstrated attention to duty, loyalty and leadership. Cadet Tuttle will be attending the United States Military Academy at West Point.
Cadet Matthew Moore of Wellington, Florida, received the Alexander Roth Senior Leadership Award for demonstrating excellence in leadership within the senior class. Cadet Moore will be attending the United States Military Academy at West Point.
Cadet Shao Peng Huang of Keiping City, China, received the James T. Regas Award for being the most likeable and outgoing cadet with a caring spirit who goes out of his way to help his fellow cadets. Cadet Huang also received the Most Respected Senior Award for demonstrating respect for the underclass students through his actions, words and deeds.
Cadet Ellie Allen of Waukesha, Wisconsin, was the first female graduate in the 135-year history of St. John's Northwestern Military Academy.
Cadet Skyler Chauff of Park Ridge, Illinois, was promoted to battalion commander of the 136th Corps of Cadets for the 2019-2020 school year. Battalion commander is the highest-ranking cadet leadership position with a cadet staff that oversees the entire student body.
