Trump's Mexico deal

So President Donald Trump now says that he has a "deal" for fixing the Mexico crisis. He shows us a folded up piece of paper from his coat pocket, then says, "It's one page from a very long and very good agreement" that he won't show anyone yet.

This is yet another example of Trump emulating Nixon, as when Nixon would speak of his solution for solving Vietnam. Nixon, as David Halberstam wrote, would be repeatedly "touching his breast pocket as if the plan were right there in the jacket - implying that to say what was in it might jeopardize secrecy."

Anthony Summers also quotes Neil Sheehan as saying that "Nixon gave the public the impression that he had such a plan - and that was what counted."

The similarities between Trump and Nixon seemingly never end.
