Give an hour a week to be Literacy Volunteer
Literacy Volunteers Fox Valley will hold its next tutor training workshop from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, Sept. 10-19, at the St. Charles Public Library, 1 S. Sixth Ave.
If you know English, you can teach English to an adult who is waiting to learn.
The program provides material and instruction so that anyone can be a volunteer tutor.
If you have an hour a week, they can fit tutoring into your schedule.
Literacy Volunteers Fox Valley serves adult learners who live or work in St. Charles, Geneva, Batavia, Elburn, and all the little towns in between.
Last fiscal year, Literacy Volunteers Fox Valley helped a little over 260 learners improve their English.
It is estimated that there are 42,000 adults in Kane County who need help.
The tutors are making a very real difference in the lives of adults who want to improve their English.
If you can help, visit lvfv.org/events/trainingschedule to register or call/text Peg at (630) 584-4428 for more information.
The training will be offered again from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, Oct. 7-16, at the St. Charles Public Library.
