New Adler Gallery Series Transforms Historic Space
Libertyville's fine arts hub announces new programming for 2019-2020, and the David Adler Music and Arts Center is getting brighter, noisier, and busier.
The Adler Gallery Series will bring new art workshops, gallery talks, concerts, yoga, and monthly exhibitions to Center's historic spaces.
"Art isn't just for walls," says Exhibitions Curator, Beth McKenna. "We want to fill the galleries with concerts, yoga, and public workshops, too." She hopes community members of all ages will come for the exhibitions and concerts and come back again to make their own art in inspirational surroundings.
The new gallery series is part of the Adler Center's ongoing community programming, which also includes events like the Festival of the Arts, Youth Art Month, Yarnstorm, and a new community mural.
Upcoming Gallery Series Events include:
Life Before the Great War, a photography exhibit curated by the Libertyville-Mundelein Historical Society. Through August 29.
Body & Soul, an exhibit of eight regional artists presenting the human figure in realist and abstract forms. September 13 - October 24. Opening Reception, Friday, September 13, 6pm.
Yoga in the Gallery, Yoga in the art galleries to inspire and restore. Monday, September 23, 6pm.
Concert in the Gallery, North Indian Classical Vocalist, Jai Sovani-Garud. Friday, September 27, 7pm.
Gallery Talk, See the show through the eyes of the artists during a guided tour. Wednesday, October 2, 7-8:30pm.
Figure Drawing, Open studio time where artists work from a live clothed model to develop drawing skills. Wednesday, October 9, 6-8pm.
Baroque to Baby, Concerts for very young audiences featuring new instruments each month. Wednesday, October 16, 11am - 12pm.
Altered States, an exhibit of printmaking. Opening reception, November 1, 6-8pm. Gallery night, November 20, 7-8:30pm.
The David Adler Music and Arts Center is located in the historic home of architect David Adler and is dedicated to making music and the arts an integral part of everyday life. Its year-round activities are designed to foster engagement and achievement in the arts for the people of Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin.
