Bowes Road train crossing to be closed Sept. 3-5

The Kane County Division of Transportation has announced that the Canadian National Railroad crossing of Bowes Road near Nesler Road in the city of Elgin will be closed from 6 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, through 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5.

The transportation division said the closure is necessary to allow Canadian National work crews to safely and more quickly perform a full crossing rehabilitation and repaving of the crossing area.

There will be a posted detour route and message boards on Bowes Road announcing the closure and providing details on the detour route. A map of the detour route is provided with this announcement.

Motorists are advised to follow the posted detour routes and expect delays in the area surrounding the closure and posted detour route.
