'Trumptanic' is headed for disaster

It's time for the GOP to bail out of the "Trumptanic" - a ship built on 30 years of GOP (greed over people) policies; Reagan's "welfare queen" characterization and destruction of the unions and middle class; George H.W. Bush's "no new taxes" lie; George W. Bush's costly illegal war against Iraq; and the rise of hateful Tea Party birthers created by biased news organizations.

The GOP has finally found the ultimate Republican leader, a lying, narcissistic, racist, bigoted and incompetent leader with one real accomplishment: passing a trillion-dollar tax break for the rich.

Most Republicans voted for this tax cut raising our national debt (the fiscal conservatives?). Not to worry, they will cut social services to pay for it, and working Americans will suffer.

The right-wing pundits (Joe Walsh, George Will, Ed Murnane, et. al.) see the economic iceberg on the horizon and ask why Democrats can't nominate a centrist candidate, someone who can work together with the Republican Party. President Barack Obama (optimistically) tried to work across the aisle and even though the GOP (Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan) shunned him, he brought our country out of a Great Recession and created an economic expansion that still survives after two years of fiscal foolishness and a president whose tariffs steer us full speed ahead toward an iceberg of economic disaster.

There are no lifeboats for "former" Republicans. Democrats (unlike Republican voters) have not forgotten the 30 years of failed Republican policies that have raised the deficit only to have Democratic presidents clean up their fiscal failings. We have not forgotten how the middle class has suffered to the point where our children cannot afford college or a home. Americans can no longer accept the Republican Party as representatives of the working people. 2020?
