Sierra Club to host 'Solar Power Hour' Sept. 9

Residential solar power will be detailed in a "Solar Power Hour" from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, at the Batavia Public Library, 10 S. Batavia Ave.

The public is invited. Admission and parking are free.

Sierra Club, Valley of the Fox chapter will be the host.

Solarize Chicagoland, an education and group purchasing program for residential solar, will provide information.

Offered by the Citizens Utility Board and the Midwest Renewable Energy Association, home and business owners throughout Cook, Will, DuPage and Kane counties may participate in Solarize Chicagoland to help pool their buying power to secure significant discounts that make installing solar more affordable.

The information session teaches the basics of solar, its financial implications for residential property, and how the Solarize Chicagoland program works.

The deadline to sign up for Solarize Chicagoland is Sept. 30.
