Wild bird rehab expert to speak at Wauconda Township event
Linda Breuer from Barnswallow, a state and federally licensed wild bird rehabilitation and education center, will give a presentation at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 23, at Wauconda Township Hall, 505 W. Bonner Road.
Barnswallow is a nonprofit organization in Wauconda that rehabilitates injured and orphaned songbirds and raptors. Breuer will discuss how birds become injured or orphaned, why bird populations are plummeting and how you can help. She also will bring some birds of prey and talk about Barnswallow's rehab efforts.
Admission is free but guests are asked to bring paper towels, unscented facial tissues, sandwich or gallon-sized Ziploc plastic bags, Dawn dishwashing liquid, or a monetary donation. Call Laurel at the Wauconda Garden Club (847) 526-8320 for more information.
