'WERQ-athon' Oct. 12 to support breast cancer research

Back by popular demand, the Glen Ellyn Park District's "WERQ-athon" will be held Saturday, Oct. 12, to support the Susan G. Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer Research.

For those unfamiliar with "WERQ," it's a fun, upbeat, cardio-based dance class with routines choreographed to current popular hip hop and pop tunes.

The "WERQ-athon" will take place from 12:15 to 2:15 p.m., giving participants plenty of time to dance, party, and raise money for breast cancer research at Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center, 800 St. Charles Road, Glen Ellyn.

The Susan G. Komen Foundation's mission is to end breast cancer and to save lives through effective treatments, improved tools for detection and diagnosis, and ongoing research for the prevention of breast cancer. The foundation has over one million supporters who play a role in fighting to end this deadly disease.

When signing up for the "WERQ-athon," participants can pay the $10 minimum suggested donation at the Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center front desk or at the "WERQ-athon" door.

Online registration is available at www.gepark.org/register, but donations cannot be made online.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Participants will also receive an Ackerman SFC giveaway.
