Man robbed at Rosemont hotel after responding to online ad

Two suspects were ordered held on $30,000 bail each on charges they robbed a man staying at a Rosemont hotel who responded to an online massage services ad.

Kenny Scott, 25, and Jason Rhodes, 23, both of Chicago, were charged with robbery, a felony punishable by up to five years in prison. Probation is also available.

Scott and Rhodes knocked on the man's hotel room door a little after midnight on Oct. 4, pushed past him and began rummaging through his bags, said Assistant Cook County State's Attorney Loukas Kalliantasis.

They are accused of taking $400 and an iPhone before they left, Kalliantasis said. The man contacted police.

A Rosemont undercover officer subsequently responded to the same massage services ad but at a different hotel. Scott and Rhodes showed up. Scott pushed past the undercover officer and took $300 from a TV stand, Kalliantasis said.

The defendants next appear in court on Oct. 24.
