College of DuPage hosts inaugural Certified Nursing Assistant Symposium

More than 200 Certified Nursing Assistants attended College of DuPage's Certified Nursing Assistant Symposium on Oct. 26.

The symposium was an opportunity for current CNAs to increase their professional knowledge and skills, while acquiring six required professional development hours.

The symposium covered a variety of topics, including dementia care, palliative care, music therapy, cultural sensitivity and health care in 2030.

In addition, attendees toured the Health and Science Center, where they explored cutting-edge labs and simulation centers used by the college's health care programs.

Attendees visited with more than 40 health-care representatives from 20 organizations, including Adventist GlenOaks Hospital, Advocate Aurora Health, Edward-Elmhurst Health, Elder Bridge, Independence-4-Seniors Home Care, Lexington Health Care, Oak Trace Retirement Community, 1776 Senior Care, Scrubs, Etc. and Sunrise Senior Living.

Event sponsors included the College of DuPage Foundation, BrightStar Care and Southern Illinois University Nurse Aide Testing.
