Fremd goes 2-0 in in Louisville
Fremd's state-ranked girls basketball team won its second game in as many days at the Raetz Fence/O'Shea's Basketball Classic at Mercy Academy High School in Louisville (KY).
The Vikings posted a 58-46 win over the host school Mercy Academy on Saturday as senior guard Emily Klaczek netted a game-high 24 points with 9 rebounds.
Other top performers for the Vikings (17-5) were junior Grace LaBarge (11 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists) and senior Olivia Hill (15 rebounds, 5 points).
Senior Caroline Cochran and junior Ruthie Montella each chipped in 6 points for the Mid-Suburban West leaders, who play at Schaumburg on Tuesday.
Elk Grove 50, Resurrection 38: Nursing a 34-31 lead after three quarters, host Elk Grove pulled away in the fourth quarter of the nonconference game.
Alyssa Trausch (14 points), Lili Duckmann (11) and Megan Murray (10) led the Grenadiers, who raised their record to 13-9.
Mundelein 44, Wheeling 38: Host Wheeling (4-20) was led by seniors Chloe Drozdz (11 points), Naomi Mettelus (11), Morgan Collar (8) and Sophia Stanke (6) in the nonconference game.
Downers Grove South 53, Leyden 46: Junior Becky Colmenares and senior Evelyn Abundes each scored 13 points for host Leyden (8-14, 3-7) in the West Suburban Gold contest.
