Lincolnshire-Prairie View School District 103 children were excited, engrossed, and mesmerized during the Learning Fund Foundation STEAM Conference Jan. 15 at Daniel Wright Junior High School.
The foundation's Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math event provided 180 students the opportunity to participate in activities such as exploring the invisible world of electricity and magnetism, learning about the physics of catapults, building video games, and creating obstacle courses for Sphero robots.
"We at the Learning Fund Foundation are committed to offering authentic and engaging hands-on learning experiences to our students," said Michele Schaapveld, president of the Learning Fund Foundation. "Our goal is for the students to leave feeling inspired to pursue a career in a STEAM field."
New this year was a Summer Camp and Adventure Day. The PTO thanked the camp participants as well as all the parents who came to see the exhibitors.
The success of the Foundation's STEAM conference is in large part due to its many sponsors. The Foundation thanks the following businesses for their participation in the event:

• Center for Gifted, Glenview
