Endorsement: Bansal for Republicans in U.S. House District 11

On the Republican ballot in the 11th Congressional District, voters will have a choice between two conservatives who have run unsuccessfully for the Illinois General Assembly in the past.

We endorse Krishna K. Bansal, a member of the Naperville Planning and Zoning Commission who's long been active in the community. He's a businessman and thoughtful conservative with reasoned views. They're developed from fundamental beliefs combined with a willingness to listen.

In 2014 when he ran for the legislature, we called him "an extraordinary candidate in terms of temperament, personal achievement and thoughtful vision for the future." He's still all those things, and they make him a clear choice for Republican primary voters.

Rick Laib of Joliet, a sergeant in the Will County Sheriff's office, is passionate and affable, and his career has been one of public service, but his views lack the depth that Bansal articulates.
