Mundelein Park's Commissioner Receives State Honor
Wally Frasier, Mundelein Park & Recreation District Board Vice President and Commissioner received the Commissioner of the Year Award by the Illinois Association of Park Districts (IAPD). Recipients of this award show outstanding qualities to support and promote parks, recreation and conservation in his or her community, as well as throughout the state. The award was presented late January during the All-Conference Awards Luncheon at the annual IAPD/IPRA "Soaring to New Heights" premier state conference for parks and recreation.
"When it comes to being committed to your community and the field of parks and recreation, Wally is the epitome of the definition," said Margaret Resnick, Executive Director of Mundelein Park and Recreation District.
During his 26 years as a Commissioner, Frasier has served as President, Vice President and Treasurer. His influence guided the District through times of tremendous growth. During his tenure, the District has acquired property to build a championship golf course (Steeple Chase Golf Club), build a facility catering to senior citizens (Regent Center), built a 54,000 square foot community center (Mundelein Community Center), opened an outdoor family aquatic center (Barefoot Bay Family Aquatic Center), expanded the number of soccer fields, opened several new parks and built a second recreational center designed for the District's expanding recreation program offerings (Dunbar Recreation Center).
Understanding the important role of parks and recreation is to the quality of life for our residents, Frasier volunteers with the Illinois Association of Park Districts to increase his ability to help. He has served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees as well as on the Joint Editorial, Joint Legislative, Joint Distinguished Accreditation, Joint Conference and Public Awareness Committees.
"Wally's dedication and service to his community and the field of parks and recreation is unlimited. He will do whatever it takes to help his community and he feels making Mundelein Park & Recreation District a better park district is the best way to help his community," added Resnick.

The District was awarded 2nd place for Overall Agency Showcase in Division 1. This competition includes the scores from all individual submissions in Division 2, plus a table top display. The display highlighted the new logo that was launched in the spring and the District's role connecting the community. The interactive display included turn-able photo squares featuring fitness, adventure, fun, teamwork, nature and recreation surrounding the centerpiece logo and monitor playing video entries.
