High School Freshman's volunteer works for the COVID-19 Testing Locations received acknowledgement from FEMA
Charles Feng, a William Fremd High School Freshman, volunteers in creating and maintaining a nationwide dataset of COVID-19 testing locations.
The COVID-19 Testing Sites project is a nationwide effort to map testing locations across the United States. It provides the public a convenient way to find testing locations nearby. It also provides valuable information to local governments and public health officials on their COVID-19 pandemic response. Until today, approximately 4000 testing sites have been added on the interactive map.
Charles Feng is responsible for COVID-19 testing locations in the Chicago metropolitan region. Since the end of March, Charles has contacted health departments, local governments and healthcare facilities for information on their testing sites, verified accuracy against official websites, and added testing sites to the map on an ongoing basis. Charles also follow changes and regularly updates the testing sites on the map. The Testing Site Locator app is mobile friendly and is available at https://<URL destination="http://giscorps.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=2ec47819f57c40598a4eaf45bf9e0d16 ">giscorps.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=2ec47819f57c40598a4eaf45bf9e0d16

The COVID-19 testing sites dataset is openly available to the public. Since its launch, it has been welcomed by local governments, healthcare providers and the public on their Coronavirus Response efforts. On April 24, 2020, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) acknowledged it as "App of the Week" (https://content.govdelivery.com/accounts/USDHSFEMA/bulletins/2883543).
