Schaumburg to Host Free Mask Distribution Event May 16 for Residents

The Village of Schaumburg will host its second free mask distribution event on May 16, weather permitting, where approximately 20,000 masks will be distributed to Schaumburg residents while supplies last.

Mask distribution will take place from 8 a.m. until noon in the parking lot of Boomers Stadium, 1999 S. Springinsguth Road.

Masks will be distributed by village personnel on a first-come, first serve basis in a drive-through fashion. Assisted by traffic control personnel, attendees will enter the event site where they will remain in their vehicles. Volunteers wearing personal protective equipment will be checking identification/proof of Schaumburg residence; attendees are asked to have items ready when they enter the site and show either their driver's license or a utility bill to serve as proof of residency. Disposable masks will be distributed and cars will exit the event site.

Up to a maximum of five masks are allowed to be distributed per vehicle. Residents are encouraged to be considerate of others and only ask for what they need to allow the village to assist as many people as possible.

The event is weather dependent and is subject to cancellation if sustained rain, lightning, or heavy winds create safety hazards. Residents should check the village's website frequently or dial 311 in the village for event updates regarding cancellations and potential make-up dates.
