Brown Bag series to tell the story of 'Mozart's Sister' June 18
The Naperville Public Library is offering its lunchtime lecture series on Zoom from 1 to 2 p.m. on select Thursdays.
On Thursday, June 19, dig deeper into the family of the great composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart as Megan Wells portrays Mozart's sister.
The Brown Bag Lectures range from art, history, culture, timely relevance and first-person portrayals.
Once registration has been complete, an email will be sent to the email provided with a link to join the meeting. Questions will be taken at the end of the lecture through the chat option. This is a live lecture and will not be recorded for later viewing.
On Thursday, July 2, it will be "Alice Paul Winning Votes for Women." Alice Paul, portrayed by Leslie Goddard, was one of the most dynamic leaders in the fight to win votes for women. An innovative and tireless worker, Paul arranged parades, organized the first picketing demonstrations outside the White House, lobbied politicians, and endured imprisonment for women's suffrage. As fearless as she was pioneering, she remains an icon in the struggle for equal rights.
On Thursday, Aug. 6, the lecture will be "From Parlour to Politics." Learn the astonishing history of the vision, courage, strategic planning, networking and tenacity demonstrated to win the 72-year battle for women's political, social and legal equality. Presenter Annette Baldwin brings to light the disturbing circumstances and inspiring reponses, delivering moving passages from the speeches of Lucretia Mott, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Susan B. Anthony and Alice Paul.
