Algonquin man accused of laundering over $500,000 of drug money

The McHenry County sheriff's office announced Thursday that an Algonquin man has been charged with 12 counts of money laundering stemming from a drug arrest.

After an investigation by the Sheriff's Narcotics Task Force dating back to 2019, Christopher Galie, 35, was arrested and charged Wednesday with laundering more than $500,000 derived from criminal drug activity to purchase real estate, cryptocurrency, and gold and silver bars.

Galie's bond was set at $400,000 and his next court date is Monday.
