Require teachers be in classroom
All along, we have been told to follow the science. Science is what dictated the close of schools and the economy for the better part of four months. The CDC and AAP, along with Dr. Fauci, have all concluded that students should be in school. Now teachers are overriding the voice of science and we are allowing them to dictate whether or not our schools can be open; why?
If the all-too-powerful teachers unions override the science and e-learning is employed, we as a community must demand that teachers be in the school, each day, based on the terms of their contract. Teachers need to be physically present from the first bell to the last. Teaching their lessons in a classroom using the resources only a classroom has.
The days of Zoom calls from a teacher's kitchen table while they are also managing their household cannot be the acceptable learning environment for our students. The only way everyone will take e-learning seriously is if teachers are in their classrooms ready to engage their students in a fully functioning and professional classroom setting.
