Leagues of Women Voters celebrate the 19th Amendment inviting DuPage and Kane County state legislators
Leaders of the seven Leagues of Women Voters of DuPage County, plus LWV Central Kane County will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the 19th amendment by hosting an informal reception for the DuPage and Kane County and State legislators on Wednesday, Aug. 26, at the Cantigny Visitors Center in Wheaton.
DuPage County legislators who have agreed to attend include: County Clerk, Jean Kaczmarek; County Board members, Ashley Selmon, District 1; Liz Chaplin, District 2; Greg Hart, and Julie Renehan, District 3; Mary Ozog, and Tim Elliot, District 4; Dawn DeSart, and Sadia Covert, District 5; Jim Zay, Bob Larsen, and Sheila Rutledge, District 6.
State Representatives include: Elizabeth Hernandez, District 24; Grant Wehrli, District 41; Diane Pappas, District 45; Terra Costa Howard, District 48; Karina Villa, District 49; Stephanie Kifowit, District 84.
State Senate scheduled attendees include: Donald DeWitte, District 33 and John Curran, District 41. A representative for US Congressman, Bill Foster, District 11, will also participate.
The 19th Amendment went into effect on August 26, 1920. What better way to mark this anniversary than by celebrating with the officials this amendment empowered women to help elect.
