Is Your Military Veteran Buried At Evergreen?

The Signal Hill Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution will honor military veterans by coordinating wreath-laying on National Wreaths Across America Day at the Evergreen Cemetery in Barrington on December 19, 2020. The chapter is working with the Evergreen Cemetery Association to identify the graves of all US military veterans interred there in anticipation of the community's response.

To date, more than 550 veterans have been identified by the bronze or stone US Government markers offered to all military veterans, as well as personal headstones. If your family has a US Military Veteran interred at Evergreen Cemetery, please contact Deborah Edlund (debedlund@gmail.com) by October 31, 2020. Signal Hill's goal is to honor as many veterans as possible, and local help in laying of wreaths at the event will also be needed. A memorial service and wreath laying on individual graves will take place on Saturday, December 19th, starting at noon. State and local health advisements will be followed for attendees' safety.

If you would like to donate to this mission of honoring veterans interred at Evergreen Cemetery, you may do so directly at the website for Evergreen's link on Wreaths Across America at www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/ILEGCA. Each live wreath costs $15 to sponsor and is made in the United States with Maine balsam. Wreaths should be purchased before November 30, 2020. General information on the Wreaths Across America program may be found at www.wreathsacrossamerica.org.
