Republican incumbent Wheeler wins fourth term in 50th House District
Incumbent Republican state Rep. Keith Wheeler was elected to a fourth term representing the 50th House District, fighting off a challenge from Democrat Kate Monteleone, a nonprofit consultant from Campton Township.
Unofficial vote totals show Wheeler, of Oswego, garnered 34,962 votes while Monteleone received 26,819 votes.
Wheeler campaigned on reducing taxes and rooting out corruption in Springfield, while pushing for pension and education reform to lower property taxes.
District 50 takes in all or parts of Aurora, Batavia, Big Rock, Campton Hills, Elburn, Geneva, Lily Lake, Montgomery, North Aurora, Oswego, Plano, St. Charles, Sugar Grove, and Yorkville.
