Undefeated Nevada picks up two MWC player of the week awards

RENO, Nev. (AP) - Nevada defensive tackle Dom Peterson and punter Julian Diaz have been named two of the Mountain West Conference's three players of the week after the Wolf Pack extended their undefeated record to 5-0 with a 26-21 victory over San Diego State.

Peterson had four tackles, including three for losses and two sacks to claim defensive player of the week. The junior from Harbor City, California helped Nevada's defense shut out the Aztecs in the second half Saturday and held them to just 109 rushing yards on the game - 170 below their season average. His 11-yard sack forced San Diego State to punt at a critical point in the fourth quarter.

Meanwhile, all five of Diaz' punts traveled at least 50 yards, including one for 63 yards as the senior from Lincoln, California picked up the special teams award. He averaged 55.2 yards per punt, with four landing inside San Diego State's 20-yard line.

Air Force fullback Brad Roberts, a sophomore from Arvada, Colorado, was named offensive player of the week in just his second collegiate game. He ran for 177 yards and three touchdowns. His rushing total on 28 carries was the most in the Mountain West this year.
