Huntley church to host drive-through 'Christmas Carhop' Dec. 5

As a powerful reminder that Christ is the "Good Shepherd," Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church in Huntley will hold a shepherd-themed event, "The Christmas Carhop," from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5.

Families are encouraged and welcomed to come to the church parking lot, 10805 Main St., and visit two socially-distanced drive-through stations.

At the first station, visitors will receive a special blessing. The second stop will include a visit with a shepherd and live sheep.

The first 150 cars that attend will receive a free complimentary candy cane ornament for the Christmas tree.

"The candy cane is a powerful image shaped like a shepherd's staff, said Mike Yvndestad, Shepherd of the Prairie staff member and volunteer with the Community Outreach Ministry team. "Upside down it depicts a 'J,' which is the first letter of Jesus' name. It's a simple reminder of the wonderful blessings God has given us by sending Jesus into the world."

Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church, under the faith leadership of Pastor Mark Boster, has served the faith community in Huntley for over 20 years.
