Candidates running for mayor and village board in Mundelein will talk about the issues facing the town in a pair of student-led, online forums next week.
The trustee candidates have been invited to attend a forum set for 6 p.m. Tuesday. The mayoral candidates' forum is set for 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Current and former Advanced Placement government students at Mundelein High School will host the sessions.
"It's a great opportunity for students to get involved in local politics, which is usually left out of the traditional AP government curriculum," teacher Tom Kuhn said. "Students also get a chance to apply the concepts they've learned about at the national level to politics at the local level."
Students helped create a Facebook page for the event and a Google form for questions. They'll also ask the candidates questions, among other tasks.
People can join the forums at: zoom.us/j/91701730242. The pass code is 5M3n%u&?.
To submit questions before the events, go to bit.ly/3qq4xN4 or email Kuhn at tkuhn@d120.org.
