No injuries, property value lost in Round Lake barn fire

No injuries were reported from a barn fire in Round Lake Tuesday evening.

Firefighters were called to 35886 N. Fairfield Road just after 4:30 p.m. and were on scene within five minutes. It took about two hours to extinguish the fire.

Nine other departments assisted with water, as there were no hydrants nearby.

Round Lake Fire Protection District Deputy Chief Joe Krueger said a spark from yard waste burning nearby likely ignited the blaze.

Because the barn was old and had already collapsed, there was no significant property value lost, Krueger said.
