Dr. Philip Schefke installed as 2022 treasurer of the Chicago Dental Society

Practicing general dentist Philip Schefke, D.D.S., of Lockport, Illinois, was sworn in as 2022 Treasurer of the Chicago Dental Society on Nov. 14. Dr. Schefke is a long-time member of CDS and has served on numerous committees and has held multiple leadership positions with the CDS South Suburban Branch.

As treasurer, Dr. Schefke will oversee CDS finances and help with preparations for the 157th Midwinter Meeting, which will be held at McCormick Place West in Chicago, February 24 - 26, 2022. The Midwinter Meeting is CDS' annual scientific meeting and one of the dental industry's premier events. The 2022 event will be back in person after a virtual experience in 2021 and will offer attendees access to courses taught by world-class speakers and today's leaders in dental innovation, live exhibits, and networking opportunities with colleagues and friends.

Dr. Schefke holds two bachelor's degrees from the University of Illinois and DePaul University and earned his dental degree from the University of Illinois College of Dentistry. In addition to his leadership roles with CDS, he serves as an Illinois State Dental Society delegate and is also a member of the American Dental Association, American College of Dentists and International College of Dentists. Dr. Schefke previously served on the adjunct faculty at Prairie State Hygiene School and is a full-time Assistant Professor at Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine.

Dr. Schefke lives in Lockport, Illinois with his wife, and has practiced in both Tinley Park and Orland Park, Illinois for the last 25 years. He has three grown children, Claudia, Madeline and Luke. He is a founding member of the Chicago Dental Ski Team and an avid bicycle rider. In his free time, Dr. Schefke also likes to dabble in pour painting and collect books.

Established in 1864, CDS is the largest local society of the American Dental Association, with more than 4,000 members in Cook, Lake and DuPage counties.
