The Elise Flagg Academy of Dance at 9 N. Fourth St. in Geneva offers high-quality training in ballet, contemporary, jazz, modern and Pilates.

Elsie Flagg, the founder and director, is the main ballet instructor of the academy's classes.

Inspired by her time studying and dancing under George Balanchine, the "Father of American Ballet" and founder of the New York City Ballet, Elise Flagg's passion for dance and approach to dance education is deeply influenced by her experiences with Balanchine.

Flagg was born in Detroit, Michigan, and her family later moved to Anchorage, Alaska, where she started ballet lessons under the direction of Linda Lorimer. At the age of 12, Flagg was selected by George Balanchine to attend The School of American Ballet in New York City with a Ford Foundation scholarship. At age 16, Flagg joined the New York City Ballet where she spent the next nine years advancing from corps de ballet, to soloist. She danced solo and principal roles with New York City Ballet until the time she left to join the Zurich Ballet as a principal artist.
