Waukegan man suspected of drug trafficking
A Waukegan man was arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking after a monthlong investigation by the Lake County sheriff's Special Investigations Group, authorities said in a news release.
Deonte L. Johnson, 34, was arrested after detectives searching his home on the 1500 block of North Avenue found four weapons - one of which was stolen - along with 148 ecstasy pills, 58 grams of MDMA, 170 grams of cocaine and more than 28 pounds of cannabis, according to the sheriff's office.
Methamphetamine, oxycodone and heroin were also found, and police say "nearly all" of the drugs were packaged for distribution.
Johnson now faces 13 felony charges: four counts of aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, four counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, three counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, one county of unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to distribute and one count of unlawful possession of cannabis.
Johnson is being held in the Lake County jail on $1 million bail and has a Feb. 1 court date.
