Northbrook Park District receives IACA Arts Grant third year in a row

The generous grant from the Illinois Arts Council Agency has helped Northbrook Park District present high-quality productions and programming for the community every year since 2019. The $11,300 grant will be utilized for the general operating of Performance Arts programming spanning across all age groups, including Northbrook Theatre Youth Company (NTYC) and Community Theatre.

To qualify for the grant, organizations must show their programs and activities have artistic, educational and cultural value for the areas they serve.

"We are thrilled to have received this grant to continue providing high quality theatre to our community," said Performing Arts Manager Erin Sweet."Our staff of theatre designers and technicians work incredibly hard to create the environment participants and audience members see on our stage. The sets, costumes, lights, and sound create a new world for our actors to live in and the fact that we are able to continue doing this with the added support of the IACA grant is very encouraging for the year to come."

Northbrook Park District's Performing Arts programs look forward to presenting several productions in 2022. On the calendar this year are "Sister Act, JR.," performed by Northbrook Theatre Youth Company in March and "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" put on by Northbrook Community Theatre in May.

Sweet explained the grant from IACA will support the production budget including purchasing of scenic, lighting, costume and sound supplies as well as staffing the productions.

"We are incredibly grateful to the IACA for recognizing the community work in the arts and to the Northbrook Theatre community for participating and supporting our theatre programs," said Sweet.
