May Erlewine to promote new album at Hey Nonny

Michigan songwriter May Erlewine will be performing at Hey Nonny at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 3, as part of her new album release tour.

Erlewine is visiting a select few venues to promote her new album, "Tiny Beautiful Things," which will officially be released to the public May 13. Fans can attend her show at the Arlington Heights music venue and bistro to hear a sneak preview of her new songs.

"May Erlewine is the real deal," said co-owner Chip Brooks. "She has an exceptional talent for reflecting on her experiences and using them to inform her songwriting in a way that's really relatable. She's able to find connections in humanity and foster community building and healing through song. Hearing her play is a pretty powerful experience, and we're excited to share that with our guests."

Erlewine's new album is named after the book by Cheryl Strayed with the same title, which features a collection of intimate letters between total strangers. The album focuses on the power of connection and the emotional exchanges surrounding love. Her songs, like Strayed's book, suggest that when we share our lives with others, they become richer, stronger and full of purpose.

"The pandemic has left many people feeling disconnected and isolated, but this album speaks to the beautiful things that surround and connect us," said Brooks.

"At the end of the day, that's the beauty of music. It has the power to connect us and remind us of the good things in life. I think this show will resonate with our audiences and they'll feel the love in the listening room."

Hey Nonny is a bistro and music venue in the heart of downtown Arlington Heights. The music venue is one of the best new "listening rooms" in the country, and hosts live music six days a week featuring the best Chicago and touring acts playing jazz, blues, country, folk and rock.
