Sugar Bush Fair makes its return to Spring Valley

Witness Indigenous re-enactments of maple syrup production, learn the history of maple syruping and enjoy breakfast at Spring Valley's Sugar Bush Fair.

Sugar Bush Fair is set for 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 19 and 20. Parking is available at the Spring Valley Nature Center, 1111 E. Schaumburg Road. The event is held near Merkle Cabin, a short walk from the nature center.

Sugar Bush Fair is one of Spring Valley's most popular and longest running events. Attendees may purchase a warm breakfast of pancakes, sausage, beverages and real maple syrup, served under a large, enclosed tent.

"This all-ages event engages all of your senses and teaches you the history and process of syruping," said Dave Brooks, manager of conservation services at Spring Valley. "We can't wait to see familiar faces returning this year to partake in all of the activities."

The event features kid-friendly activities, educational and historical re-enactments by Indigenous Americans and interpretive pioneers, who will demonstrate maple syrup and sugar production.

All activities take place outdoors, and attendees are encouraged to dress warmly. Spring Valley maple syrup and other items will be available for purchase.

General admission to the fair is free. Tickets are required for breakfast and are available online for purchase. Advance tickets are $6 per breakfast and day-of tickets, if available, are $8 per breakfast. Advance breakfast tickets are available online until Friday, March 18.
