Letter: Pope's defiance could end war
During World War II, the Nazis invaded a Greek island and threatened the archbishop and his people to give them the names of Jews, ultimately for deportation and extermination. When the Nazis returned to retrieve the list, there were only two names on the list, the archbishop and the mayor of the island. The Nazis left without further issue.
What is the purpose of my telling this, you say? I'll tell you.
The Pope (Holy See) should contact Putin and demand a halt to the massacre in Ukraine. If Putin does not heed this urgent request, then the Holy See should fly to Ukraine to dare Putin into endangering the Holy See. I believe this act of defiance and heroism would be successful. Not even Putin could fear the wrath of the world for any harm to the Pope.
Let's all pray for the fearless citizens and government of the free republic of Ukraine.
