Brotherhood of Harmony brings music to winter farmers market

After enjoying years of local musicians enhancing the atmosphere of the Summer Farmers Market, the Palatine Sister Cities Association is pleased to welcome back the Brotherhood of Harmony to the Palatine Winter Farmers Market from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 2.

The Palatine Winter Farmers Market takes place from 10 a.m. to noon the first and third Saturdays of each month through April at the Palatine Train Station parking lot, 137 Wood St.

Vendors offer pasture-raised meats and eggs, seafood, artisan breads, honey, homemade cookies and other baked goods, dog treats, tacos and tamales, and knife/tool sharpening. Both drive-through and walk-up shoppers are welcome.

"We're thrilled to have this barbershop chorus back to entertain. I'm sure our customers will enjoy their music, especially on beautiful spring days in April," said Marg Duer, market founder and manager.

The program will include old favorites to Broadway numbers to rock' n' roll tunes to well-known melodies. Customers are invited to sing along with the chorus.

"We sing an extensive repertoire of popular music using four-part harmony to produce the barbershop quartet sound," chorus Director Brian Cromer said.

The Brotherhood of Harmony meets weekly to rehearse at 7:30 p.m. Thursdays at DeerGrove Covenant Church, 225 E. Helen Road, Palatine. For those who love to sing, the chorus has openings for all parts and skill levels.

For information, visit brotherhoodofharmony.org or call (262) 394-6380.
