Huntley's Shepherd of the Prairie Church to hold food drive April 3

Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church in Huntley will hold it next food drive to benefit Grafton Food Pantry on Sunday, April 3.

It will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. at the church, 10805 Main St.

"The Grafton Food Pantry has requested cooking supplies, personal care items and cleaning supplies," said Mike Yndestad, Community Outreach Chairman, at Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church. "We will also continue our first Sunday of the month food drives next month on May 3 to provide support for the items needed most by Grafton Food Pantry."

Members of the church's Confirmation class will provide assistance with the food collection.

According to Harriet Ford, board of directors, Grafton Food Pantry, "We are in need of peanut butter, jelly or jam, and juice, plus cooking oils, like vegetable, olive, corn or canola, and cooking spray. Also, while not critical items, we are very low on personal care items, such as: deodorant, lotion, shampoo, razors, dental products, and conditioner. We would also appreciate receiving cleaning supplies like dish soap, detergent, dishwasher pods or cleaning supplies."

Gift/gas cards are very helpful in assisting Grafton Food Pantry clients.

Monetary donations are welcome and extend the reach to help others. With every $1 donation, the Grafton Food Pantry is able to purchase an equivalent of $8 for food to help those in need. Checks should be made payable to Grafton Food Pantry.
