Lombard Public Works hosts fourth annual Public Works Citizens Academy in April

The Lombard Public Works Department is seeking residents to participate in its fourth annual Public Works Citizens Academy beginning this April.

The free Academy is open to residents, age 18 or older. It offers hands-on training activities, tours of village facilities, and presentations by public works staff.

The academy will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Mondays, April 18 to May 9, with a graduation event scheduled on Thursday, May 19, in conjunction with a regularly scheduled village board meeting.

Topics covered will include streets, electrical and forestry divisions as well as underground utilities. Participants will also see demonstrations, learn about Lombard's utility systems, and tour the Glenbard Wastewater Authority.

"We started this program because many residents expressed their interest in learning about Lombard's construction, underground utilities, and the role that Public Works plays in maintaining our community," said Public Works Director Carl Goldsmith. "The program has been extremely successful and we look forward to hosting another group of residents who want to experience Lombard Public Works."

For additional information or to register, visit the Village of Lombard's website at www.villageoflombard.org/PWCA.

The registration deadline is Wednesday, April 13. Class size is limited.

Contact Public Works at (630) 620-5740 or publicworks@villageoflombard.org with any questions.
