'Lion King' returns to Chicago for the fifth time

Just in time for the holidays, Disney's "The Lion King" returns to Chicago this fall.

The nine-week run, which begins Nov. 17, at the Cadillac Palace Theatre, marks the fifth time Elton John and Tim Rice's stage adaptation of the 1994 Disney animated film has played Chicago. During its most recent visit here, a six-week run that concluded a little more than six years ago, the touring tuner broke the then-record for highest grossing week in Chicago theater history, according to Broadway in Chicago.

Long a hot ticket show, the Tony Award-winning musical marks its 25th year on Broadway in November. An estimated 110 million people worldwide have seen the 25 international productions, according to Disney Theatrical Productions.

Chicago performances will run through Jan. 23, 2023. Group sales for 10 or more are available at (312) 977-1710. Broadway in Chicago subscribers can add the show to their packages by calling (312) 977-1717. Individual tickets will go on sale later this year at broadwayinchicago.com.
