Letter: Ladisch Douglass is poised to act

Do the ongoing mass shootings lead you to demand action on gun violence? Well, your vote matters. So let me tell you why I am voting for Jenn Ladisch Douglass, Democrat for Illinois House 45th District (formerly the 47th). It's simply because Jenn Douglass stands poised to act on reducing gun violence. Here are five reasons why I oppose the reelection of our incumbent Republican representative, Deanne Mazzochi.

Mazzochi voted no on HB 562, FOID Modernization Bill, Expanding Background Checks to All Gun Sales in Illinois.

Mazzochi voted no on HB 1092, Establishes Restraining Orders for Firearms.

Mazzochi voted no in committee to advance HB 4383, Ban Ghost Guns.

All three bills passed by majority of the Illinois House.

Deanne Mazzochi has a favorable rating (67%) from the NRA.

On May 25, I asked Mazzochi's chief of staff, Heidi Holan, "What measures does Mazzochi support to reduce gun violence." Holan's retort, "Deanne Mazzochi supports the Second Amendment."

If you want action from our representatives on gun legislation, don't waste your vote on Mazzochi. Let's elect Jenn Ladisch Douglass, who I believe will vote with her constituents on matters of gun violence.
