Northbrook Farmers Market Restocks Food Pantry Shelves

Northbrook Farmers Market once again is asking the community to help restock the shelves at the Northfield Township Food Pantry with household cleaning and personal hygiene products.

Summer Stock 2022, sponsored by our friends at Edward Jones - Northbrook, is Wednesday, July 20.

Items of particular need include paper towels, toilet paper, hand sanitizer, laundry detergent, dish soap, women's personal hygiene products, and other dry goods -- all items that cannot be purchased with food stamps, but certainly are necessities.

In addition to the above named items the township will accept monetary donations which will be used to purchase food and other products that supplement their distribution programs.

"We are so grateful to the Northbrook Farmers Market, Edward Jones-Northbrook and the community for coming together and making a difference in the lives of so many who are food insecure in our community," said Northfield Township Supervisor Shiva Mohsenzadeh.

Farmers market organizers are grateful to Omar Zaki and Julie Grobman of Edward Jones--Northbrook for their generous donation that helps defray expenses associated with the event.

"We are honored to sponsor a collection drive for the food pantry," said Zaki. "We think it's great that our local farmers market makes this effort to help those who need assistance. It's all about community."

As always, volunteers will be available to help unload cars for those needing assistance with their donations. Just come to the Welcome Booth.

Northfield Township, which operates the food pantry, will offer information about the pantry and other services at their drop-off table.

Additionally, every Wednesday volunteers collect fresh produce for the pantry from the market's farmers adn other vendors, for a total of more than 65,000 pound over the years.

The market is open Wednesdays, 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., through Oct. 12, in the parking lot of Meadow Plaza, Cherry Lane and Meadow Road.
