Lake County authorities identify teen killed in Zion shooting
A 17-year-old Zion boy fatally shot Thursday night has been identified as Diego Carreto, Lake County authorities said Monday.
Police responding to a report of shots fired at 8:35 p.m. Thursday near the 2900 block of Gideon Avenue found Diego suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest, authorities said. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
On Friday, a 15-year-old Zion boy was charged with first-degree murder in connection with the killing and ordered held in a juvenile detention center. The 15-year-old suspect has not been identified by authorities.
