Women's Club of Inverness disbands after more than 50 years

Women's Club of Inverness is incredibly saddened to announce it is closing its doors at this time.

WCI has depended on the generosity of the community for more than 50 years to accomplish its philanthropic mission to address the needs of women, children, families, seniors and students.

WCI has given more than $1 million to local community agencies and scholarships. The focus of philanthropy has been on nonprofit organizations serving the District 211 and District 220 communities.

The club is truly proud of its members and recognizes their tremendous generosity in terms of time, effort and financial support for its mission.

Members have come from Inverness and beyond - Palatine, Deer Park, Schaumburg, and all of the Barringtons. Many lasting friendships have been formed while working toward WCI goals. Members will no doubt forge new connections with other charitable groups within the Northwest suburbs and will continue to dedicate their talents and time to service in their communities.

During the past two years, the pandemic has upended organizations and businesses, and WCI has been no exception. Twice-yearly fundraising events, which require months of planning and usually draw hundreds of participants, have had to be canceled. While WCI has used all the creativity of its members to generate funds for its philanthropy and scholarship, it has not been able to replace the funds from lost events.

While members have continued to support community outreach projects such as Make a Difference Day, Appletree Project, Adopt a Family and Blessings in a Backpack, the loss of major fundraising opportunities has had a devastating effect on the club's ability to continue its mission.

WCI is grateful for the support of individuals and partners in its communities. WCI is proud of its members and their incredible talents, compassion and dedication to service for more than 50 years. It is hoped that, while WCI will no longer be in existence, the contributions of its members and the organization will have had lasting impact on the community.
