A&A Ballet to hold auditions for the one-of-a-kind 'Art Deco Nutcracker'

A&A Ballet, under the artistic direction of Anna Reznik and Alexei Kremnev, will hold auditions for roles in "The Art Deco Nutcracker," which will be performed on Saturday, Dec. 3, at Athenaeum Center in Chicago.

Set in 1920s America, "The Art Deco Nutcracker" is a beloved holiday performance featuring the traditional musical score by Tchaikovsky, magical costumes and stunning choreography. The best young talent is on display with an international, multicultural cast, and International Top Awards winners.

Renowned dancer Alexei Kremnev will be at the helm as Drosselmeyer and Mother Ginger will be played by a Chicago celebrity.

Auditions will be open to children of all levels and styles of dance ages 4-6, 7-8, 9-11, and 12 or older.

Auditions will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturdays, Sept. 10 to Oct. 1, at the A&A Ballet Center for Dance at 731 S. Plymouth Court in Chicago.

The ballet company was founded in 2016 by Alexei Kremnev and Anna Reznik. Both are distinguished dancers with experience as artistic directors at the Joffrey Ballet Academy and the Joffrey Studio Company. "The Art Deco Nutcracker" is Kremnev's 11th full-length ballet. His work has been presented at the world-renowned Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, Lincoln Center in New York, and the Opernhaus Zurich in Switzerland, among other prestigious venues across the globe. Both Kremnev and Reznik have been recognized as Influential People in the Arts in Cincinnati and have received multiple awards for their leadership.

A&A Ballet is based in Chicago's historic Fine Arts Building on Michigan Ave. currently in residence of the American Rhythm Center, and is devoted to training in strong, versatile dance techniques, as well as the development of personality, independence and artistry.
