Letter: Thanks for good news

Thank you for some good front page news in the Aug. 30 edition featuring Deerfield-Bannockburn Firefighter/Paramedic Joe Miller's Aug. 12 rescue and subsequent adoption of a kitten that was stuck in a drain pipe. Nice photos too.

As a cat lover who is weary beyond belief of negative news, I was delighted to read how Miller managed to get the little guy (now named Oliver) out of the pipe and how he and his family (animal lovers) subsequently adopted him and took him to the veterinarian, but not before attempting to find out to whom he might belong.

The story also mentioned how the Millers recently had to have a pet cat euthanized due to poor health in old age, and I know what a wrenching decision that can be, but then along came lucky cat Oliver, who chose the exact right pipe in which to become stuck.
